Therapy at GAP

We understand life is full of challenges which can awaken feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, loneliness, loss or uncertainty about relationships. It is hard to deal with these emotions and experiences and sometimes it can be too difficult or complicated to talk to family and friends. You do not need to struggle alone.

At GAP we have a group of experienced, licensed and professional therapists and counsellors who can support you in a safe and confidential environment to explore your thoughts, emotions and concerns.  We know the transformative effect therapy can have and we work with individuals to slowly build personal insight and in turn resilience, confidence and capacity for change.

We acknowledge the courage it takes to consider a journey of self-discovery and we respect each individual comes with a different set of needs.  We invite you to take a first step by attending our initial Exploratory Session, during which your particular needs will be discussed.  Following this you will be directed to a therapy and therapist who best matches your needs.

The fee for the Exploratory Session is €80.  To make an appointment please contact us

Individual Therapy

Individual Psychotherapy and Counselling involves meeting regularly (usually weekly) with a qualified therapist for one-to-one appointments.

The setting provides a safe place to explore difficulties in depth and without judgement. As the relationship between you and the therapist develops, communication becomes the basic tool to bring about insight.

Fee arrangements are agreed between the therapist and the person attending. Individual Therapy usually costs €80 per session.

Group Therapy

Group Therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which a trained group analyst works with up to eight people together as a group. The group meets face-to-face for 1.5hours on a weekly basis and works through issues important to each individual but as a group.

Group Therapy provides an opportunity for people of different ages, backgrounds and with varying issues to talk, share, explore and gradually develop insight into their patterns of relating. This process results in greater self-awareness and over time can lead to improved confidence and an increased capacity for healthy relationships.

Group Analytic Practice currently has 15 therapy groups running per week.

Fee arrangements are agreed between the therapist and person attending. Group Therapy usually costs €50-€60 per session.

Referring into GAP

Whilst most of our clients are self-referrals, we receive referrals from GPs, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and other health care professionals.  A Practice Director is available for phone discussions if there is a query on whether a referral is suitable for therapy at GAP.  We work in partnership with referrers as appropriate and respect the limitations of therapy when diagnosis and/or medical intervention is the best recourse. We will direct referrers and clients on if we believe an onward referral is the most appropriate route for a client.
